Discover the art of street photography in one of the most fascinating and visually rich locations in Paris: the Saint-Ouen Flea Market (Marché aux Puces).

During this 4-hour photography workshop, participants will explore the different areas of the flea market, from its lively streets and colourful stalls to antique shops, hidden passages, unusual objects and the people who bring this unique place to life.

The workshop is designed to help you develop your eye, improve your photographic technique and become more confident when photographing in a busy urban environment. We will work on observation, composition, light, timing and storytelling, with practical exercises throughout the market.

We will meet at 83 Bd Ornano, 75018 Paris. Outside the metro station « Porte de Clignancourt » (L4), where the « Recyclerie » is located.

What to Expect:

  • Technical briefing (1 hour) theoretical framework: We will begin with an introduction to street photography and cover the essential technical and creativevprinciples: camera settings, exposure, focus, composition, working with natural light, anticipating a scene and approaching street photography with confidence. If you have already attended this workshop, this is a great opportunity to explore new creative ideas and step outside your comfort zone.

I also regularly update my selection of photographers and references, so I can introduce you to
new perspectives and fresh approaches to street photography!

  • Street Photography Exercises (2 hours): We will explore several areas of the Saint-Ouen Flea Market through a series of guided exercises. Participants will photograph different situations and subjects, experimenting with composition, light, details, people, movement and visual storytelling.

  • Photo Review & Debrief (1 hour): At the end of the workshop, we will meet to review a selection of photographs taken by theparticipants. Together, we will discuss the images, identify their strengths and look at ways to improvecomposition, technique and storytelling.

Who is this Workshop for?

This workshop is open to everyone, from complete beginners to photography enthusiasts who would like to improve their street photography skills.

No professional equipment is required. You can participate with a digital camera, mirrorless camera, DSLR or smartphone.

The goal is not to have the most sophisticated equipment, but to learn how to observe, anticipate and capture compelling moments in the streets while developing your own visual storytelling.

*Please note: Personal costs at the café are not covered.
